FAQ

Your questions, answered

Not sure what you need? Call 07791 199806 for straightforward advice.

A fire risk assessment helps keep people safe and protects your property. It identifies potential fire hazards in your building, highlights where improvements are needed, and helps reduce the risk of fire starting or spreading. It is also a legal requirement: if you are responsible for a building, the law requires you to understand the fire risks and put suitable safety measures in place, and the assessment provides a record that you are meeting those duties.

Fire risk assessments should be reviewed regularly, and whenever there are significant changes to the building, its use or occupancy, or following a fire-related incident. As best practice, reviews are typically carried out annually.

The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 made it a legal requirement from 23 January 2023 for responsible persons for all multi-occupied residential buildings in England with storeys over 11 metres in height to undertake quarterly checks of all fire doors (including self-closing devices) in the common parts, and to undertake, on a best endeavour basis, annual checks of all flat entrance doors (including self-closing devices) that lead onto a building’s common parts.
